A small, family owned heating & cooling (install/service & repair) business where the owners run the company via a General Manager and Accountant but who attend the company often. The company is run in two parts (with overlap): Sales/Install (of new equipment - Furnaces, Heat Pumps & etc) and Service - involving maintenance & repair of the equipment. Almost all technicians carry out both actions. Pros: Pay is better than expected in the Service Department. The management do take good care of employees need(s) to take time to address family issues. There is some rudimentary effort to encourage new staff to make business suggestions & enough carrot to feel that you might be okay at the job. Cons: Staff is made routinely aware that they are expendable. Stress levels are high due to: interpersonal conflict (alliances - think Survivor), unclear definition of whose duties are whose. Routines fluctuate depending on the time of year as the company is 'busy' from Oct - Jan (heating season). Overall a very hard place to work at. I would not recommend any friends or family work there.
