• This place is horrible, currently an employee looking for other opportunities as they claim to be a top 100 but everyone is miserable but act like they are having the best time of their lives, I see jobs being posted and reposted and no one internal bothers applying as it’s just plain awful.

• I left a few weeks ago from this organization, I worked in their cyber branch.
  
  - People and Management are clueless, our leadership is absolutely clueless and could not manage themselves out of a room.
  - The Technology branch outside of Cyber is also lead by incompetent managers
  
  I was with the organization for just over 5 years and saw some great people leave (consultants, managers and regulars employees) when asked why the existing leadership would simply dismiss it

• Horrible experience, as a consultant with over 20 years of experience I cannot stress how horrible it was to work at the Bank of Canada. Their Information Technology section is run by a bunch of morons, while I worked here for just over a year I was exposed to poor leadership, backstabbing and employees just counting down their time. • Worked for the bank for 6 months, of which I wish I could have the 6 months back, coming from another well known Crown le bank lacks vision! Management on every level is a novice at best. There is no experience in management, their IT Technology department is run by monkeys and their Cyber Security group is in competition to see who can eats more bananas. This is what happens when you have poor employees who get promoted. These groups only survive because everyone is so eager to get their yearly bonuses. The
  Systems are a awful and business development projects and ideas are out in left field.

• This place is doomed. I left when I started to see useless managers get promoted. What I learned at the BoC is that when I see incompetent people, I tell them the BoC is a great place to work and they would fit in perfectly. Highly recommend you apply elsewhere unless you are incompetent then you will fit right in

• Senior Managers, directors and a very poor HR department in combination with LOTS of racism and favoritism makes this company a laughing stock. They make sad attempts at making employees feel heard, yet when staff members do speak up at meetings set up for such purposes, they are ofen bullied by the management and labled.
  The annual review or PMA as they call it (which has a direct affect on the meager bonuses paid out) are highly based on whom the department (team) manager like and do not like. It has no direct relation to who works hard, has the proper EDUCATION, skill sets and so forth.
  Promotions are given out based on who you know. The managers are abusive, supervisors either step down or turn into slaves for the managers.
  Staff moral was incredibly low at most departments I came across. Most co workers left because they could not come to work in this environment where the promotions are only given to "butt kissers"; where as the hard working, educated and qualified staff are held back by the management and the poorly ran HR department with NO oversight on management

• If you are looking for work in IT or Cyber do not waste your time, managers are clueless and promote incompetent people, speaking of incompetent their HR department is brutal, however the good news is one of the hr resources is finally retiring that should remove some of the incompetence. • I’ve been with this organization for just over two years, it’s by far the worst place to work. I am an IT professional with about 10 years experience and not only is HR bad but so is their IT shop, the people working here would jump ship at the 1st opportunity, was told a lot of good managers left and the ones who stayed that are good are too close to retirement to leave. I can confirm IT and their Cyber Security sections are extremely poorly run and would avoid at all costs, from speaking to older staff members it’s been pretty bad for about 10 years and doesn’t appear to show any signs of improvement, senior leaders have their heads in the sand and would get lost crossing the street. I am actively looking and would avoid this organization at all costs.

• I cannot begin to explain how bad this organization has become, I’ve been with the Bank of Canada for over 17 years. I work in IT and Cyber, I don’t even know where to begin, most managers (the good ones) are retiring or had left (or passed away), the remaining are fully aware of all the issues but do nothing, they keep mentioning it’s a top 100 and I would agree if you work on the business side but in IT or Cyber I would highly recommend working elsewhere. Most staff are lookikg to leave the ones that are staying either cannot find better employment or are about to retire. • I have been at the Bank just under 5 years and highly recommend it. Although I have worked in other areas, I have found my home in ITS. The freedom to innovate, the support to continuously grow professionally and the culture is rival to few other organizations. • I cannot stress enough this place is toxic, management will deceive you and hr will not support you in fact they will ensure you are the problem seen it over and over, existing Cyber Management is a mockery, the people leaders and people with the right skills have left and continue to leave. I want to leave but have no right skill set to offer outside an organization I’ve been with for about 7 years. People working in Cyber and IT are constantly wanting to leave. • More great resources dropping like flies from this once great organization, management continues to Barry their head in the sand and not realize that they are the problem, avoid at all costs especially in IT and Cyber, the leaders in cyber could not manage their way out of a paper bag, this organization is heading towards outsourcing do not waste your time, we lost another key resource last week and continue to bleed so many great resources have left, SME and the good leaders.. take it from an existing looking to leave employee skip this organization unless it’s a business role

• I have been working for the Bank of Canada for over 19 years, it keeps getting worse .. when people complain they outsource or simply replace.. staff is expected to work boat loads of overtime with no option to say NO, we are paid the oppostite applies to management who work overtime and an NOT paid.. even managers have a poo setup, my recommendation is what was once a fantastic organization has turned it's back on it's employees.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• Worst IT department ever. I cannot describe the unethical treatment I received working at this Crown Corporation. Having worked 20 years in IT in private and government agencies, I can honestly say that this is the most dysfunctial organization I have ever worked for.
  
  To be brutally honest, Management is incompetent and they throw hard-working staff under the bus whenever necessary.
  
  The pay, benefits and false promises were an eye opener for me and I now am fully aware of the poor hiring practices of this organization.
  
  I am generally not one to complain, but I witnessed a political work environment with a "sweatshop" mentality. There was little or no encouragement by management and found the negativity to be counter-productive and intimidating.
  
  If you want to be micro-managed and un-appreciated, then go work in the IT department at the BOC.

• Incompetent IT management with little care of staff retention or ethical values. I was truly amazed how unhappy I was working for this disfunctional organization.
  
  Having worked in numerous IT organizations, I can honestly say this is the first time in my career that I was treated as a "lackie". Managers would throw staff under the bus so they would not be blamed for their poor performances.
  
  There is no possibility for advancement or promotion in the IT department and the benefits and salary hardly make up for all of your pain and suffering.
  
  I cannot without good concience, recommend this employer as a reputable organization to work with. Possibly consultant work, but I would caution anyone from working for any of the existing managers currently employed at BOC.
  
  The door is revolving and the policy of management is to continually hire people as probationary staff until they are ready to dump them after 18 months.
