I have been working at Cactus club downtown for several months in the dining room. Despite proving myself as an amazing server, they are trying to make jump through hoops when other servers have been in the dining room for two/three weeks, then moved into the lounge/bartending. No jumping needed. I was told "in confidence".. that you have to be friends with people in order to be moved up. Some days there is no managerial presence on the floor. We also have to wear high heels, and if you are not wearing a pencil skirt, an outfit is too "flowy".
