I work as an Officer with CBSA in Manitoba. I’ve been with the Agency for 12 years. The pay and benefits are good but that’s about it. The management in the Agency is ineffective and borderline incompetent. Feedback (unless negative) is non existent. Year end reviews are cookie cutter, I know this as I’ve compared mine with others. Mobility within the agency isn’t merit based at all, it’s based off who you know. Rampant nepotism. There is little to no communication from management unless you’re getting disciplined for something. Often we aren’t supported in doing our duties stopping drugs, guns, etc from entering the country. Can’t really recommend it as a career.
