• This job will honestly ruin your mental state they have terrible management if you ever end up with a manager who seems very “nice” and want to accommodate you they will use those same things against you and to be honest I think some of them are very passive aggressive to black people especially those that are of a certain race specifically south Asian do not recommend at all they are definitely a company who promotes equality but hires other closeted racists it’s actually very sad to see and they will find any means to make you feel less then I think they lie about the awards they get   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• Customers verbally abusing staff happens often and this is not news in the service industry, but CIBC promised that it would take actions to remove these customers and it doesn't actually happen. Reports have been filed but these customers still have yet to be removed. The company doesn't do what is promised to ensure employees safety and dignity, how can it be trustworthy in any other aspects?   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• Amazing place to work. Left RBC three years ago and couldn't be happier. I have been with Wood Gundy and Cap Mrkts and love it. Highly recommend it !!

• as a 10 year cibc employee People really need to know how staff especially front line staff are really treated off the record a daily basis outside of a one sided picture, there is a serious disconnect and manipulation of policies & perception between what is permitted on paper vs. what is actually happening in practice couldn't be worse, off the record on a monthly, weekly basis. Miscommunication negative assumption are the norm and in addition to being pre judged is a bad combination. There are two sides to every situation I have seen so many errors in cibc management I struggle to find the hours to go though each. Most interactions have been disruptive or negative staff are treated differently based on preference of sex or race if you do not fit the preference of your next team leader of manager you will be harassed and treated differently. as a 10 year employees i been lucky enough to be a witness and not a victim. But To all looking for employment at cibc. prepare to be a scapegoat prepare for comments such as comments such as;
  “why are you here?”
  “I am a level 7 manager”
  “other managers have failed.”
  “I am a level 7 manager”
  Just dont.. try another bank. read the articles @ cbc.om and go public any other bank.it seem futile to ware because people are desperate for income but cibc is the worst place i have worked in Canada in my life Just dont..beware stay away   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• Where do i even begin? I work for the contact center in Toronto, and I am constantly being told by employers that I am doing terrible despite me bringing in high results, and having clients telling me directly that I was a great help and great person to talk to. I am not receiving any positive feedback, and people are not acknowledging the good work I put in while they acknowledge others. Unprofessional to the core. • Customer service was really bad that it has been an hour and no one has been talking to you. Poor communication skills. Not usually understand other people who speak other language. There's no equality. They usually take people who is the same nationality as them, not the first one who came in. Bad costumer service. • I have worked at this company for almost two years as a Financial Services Representative II. This is by far my worst job experience to date. I have more than 25 years in the financial services industry and I believe there are better banks out there to work with as well as to be a customer of.
  The company promotes a work-life balance but in order to meet the sales targets you must come in early, skip lunch, leave late. In the district I work at there are no coffee breaks and you can consider yourself lucky if you can take the time to get to the bathroom. The goals of "right party connects", pre-booked meetings, sales events, and units is unreasonable. A day does not go by where I have provided an excellent client experience but no sale. It's come to the point now where I believe I need to say to a client "if you're not here to open an account, get an overdraft, or buy an investment today please leave-you're wasting my time. The 14 week training program, which is called Financial Service Representative Development Program has not been successful at retaining talent. Upper management is so far removed from what happens daily in a branch; trying to call the Employee Help Desk is often a 15-30 minute wait on hold and the resources available online seldom give you quick answers. I am still there because full-time permanent work in my area is scarce. I dread getting up every morning to go to work and am seriously considering mopping floors where I can see the results of my honest effort.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• I want to make one thing clear before I submit this, this job is NOT for everyone, but it is a good job if this is your career focus and preferred industry, it is a retail sales position and if you don't understand what that truly entails, you don't get to complain. SALES! so don't be surprised by the targets as it is for all intents and purposes the BUSINESS OF SALES! I've been a CIBC employee for 5 years, I love the people I work with, I love 90% of my clients, because let's be honest...some people are just difficult to deal withq. The work load is absolutely ridiculous, the turnover is insane (5 FSR in a one year period and 17 I can name 6 of whom moved to other branches or positions within cibc since I started) to be perfectly honest I'm annoyed with my position and couldn't care less about hitting my targets because there is so much paperwork to be done there isn't enough time in a day to complete it all. You are responsible for all of the work of the FSRs who have left and if you don't meet your targets and complete the outstanding work, it goes on your employment record as something you didn't do. the few successful fsrs I've known didn't take on the other paperwork (if anyone tells you otherwise they are lying I saw it with my own eyes because guess whose lap it landed on?) and there were two I know of who stayed late pretty much every night at minimum an hour to complete their OWN paperwork. It is a lot of work, and again not for everyone, this is actually a pit stop for me, I have other plans to pursue a different career in 2 years time and would like a serious, prepared, VERY VERY organized, and results focused person to replace my position (no I'm not a manager or anything, I have no reason other than to make others aware to help avoid future hostilities) it is possible to accomplish, I'm just not interested, I care more about the people I meet who need things done in their day to day banking and investments, and I tend to feel like if I don't do the other things and the necessary research to resolve client issues they won't get done, and they haven't, because just to prove to my higher ups I could do the Job I just did the work to hit my targets for a 6 month period, and maybe fit in a little bit of the other stuff here and there, guess what! sh*t didn't get done! no I'm not saying I'm at all vital and everything rests on my shoulders, I see my managers try and try to get solid people into these positions and just when it looks like they do, the new hiree is gone. you have to be able deal with a high level of stress and implement and organizational system that works for you right from training, there are avenues for advancement, it is dependant on your performance whether or not you get a recommendation, if you want a transfer you have to hit your targets. Initially you will start at a base salary and raises from that point are based on your performance. the benefits package is fabulous, the employee banking benefits are great, at my branch communication between csrs and fsrs and management is pretty good...with external departments...let's just say it's hit and miss. if you end up working for a newer branch I envy you like nothing else, I work in an old branch with decor from the 70s...not even kidding. I have to take a daily allergy pill because of all the oldness. I said all that to say Consider the position very carefully, it can be very rewarding when you hear from a client they heard about you from someone else and wanted to do business with you. ask questions, ask why they are hiring, ask what a typical day is for an FSR, ask what the turnover has been like and why, ask about the workload, if they say average ask for a definition of average in the particular position because it is not all the same. Many branches are open on weekends now so be prepared to have work weekends. I think that's all I can cover in 4000 characters, good luck.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• The CIBC customer contact centre in Fredericton is the worst place I have ever worked. Managers belittle you -- you're constantly "in trouble" if you don't do everything exactly to their specifications. It's almost impossible to get vacation when you need or want it, or even more than 2 days consecutively. The atmosphere is awful and the work is extremely stressful and soul-crushing. • I worked at the Montreal call center. After doing this job I understand now how this bank considers clients. What is important for them is just to use the client and sell him whatever they can to make more money. My supervisor was new at that role.
