Worked for one of the Extendicare's in Sudbury Ontario for a few years. I have recently left. I strongly agree with most of the reviews here. Terrible management who doesn't treat all employees equally. If you're not a favorite you're basically forgotten about and won't really get any opportunities for advancement. The working environment was very toxic. Many employees were very unhappy and felt as though they weren't appreciated. Lots of times nurses work on their own on the floor. Management rarely ever helps unless the ministry is in then maybe they will make an appearance on the floor. The staff turn over is ridiculous because most people leave to go to the hospital where they get more opportunities, better pay, and hopefully more appreciation from management. Even though staff state that management is part of the issue when they leave, there's no discipline for bad management, it's like they rather lose several good employees instead of one manager. I would get so stressed out while heading to work. I would not recommend this employer to anyone. If you have other options I would suggest taking one of them over this place.
