  There are anger issues, fits and guilt trips. A very emotional and overly dramatic franchise.

• Stay away at all costs.
  
  Everyday is stressful because the owner and GM do not communicate with each other. They will blame you as a technician for any faults within the business. You will receive very strange texts from the GM like 'do you still work for Goodbye graffiti?' Even though you are out doing jobs in their truck making them money. 
  
  Both the owner and GM lie to you all the time. When you do jobs and you have questions about it, you receive no answers. They love to pass the buck and set yourself up to fail as a technician. 
  
  The environmental controls are rarely adhered too. 
  
  The moto for this franchise should be 'one rule for me and one rule for thee.'

• The guy who owns this company is moody and unpredictable. No communication and poorly organized operation. Employees are not treated equally and favouritism especially with one or two staff. • I always wonder how this company survives.
  Head office needs to know a few things.
  When Goodbye Graffiti Calgary has reviews. They will pretend that it never happened.
  The employees are told to remove Cloverdale Paint from shelves and face Dulux to manipulate the auditor.
  Calgary will fire employees who have been loyal to them after exposing them to the fraud.
  Sad to say, this tradition moves on.
  No consequences.
  Just unemployed workers.

  Business model, vision and strategy
  - there really isn't any. Yet everyday is chaotic, unless it is a basic day.
  
  Management's skills
  - there was no management, just 2 managers that do not communicate together.Thus when they are in conflict they will always blame the technicians, for something that they have no control over.
  
  Values and corporate culture
  - i believe it was good, the head office brings in a lot of good policies, which were rarely followed by the Calgary franchise.
  
  Internal communication
  - Communication lacks, if you had a problem or concern, you were always looked down on, having this happen, you rather not ask questions

  Recognition
  - You were only recognized on payday, rarely you were told you did a good job
  
  During my over one year stint with this Calgary franchise I had some good times with the other techs. None of them were lazy, nor did bad work. The problem that we all faced was the management. Throughout time you get the sense that you will be getting terminated for no reason, or for the lamest excuses ever. There was a lot of fear in the techs, because you would get scorned for doing your job properly but they would find a speck of dust to lay it into you. They did not trust anyone. The impression we all got was: we want to come to work and do the least amount of jobs. If there was a problem that we could not fix, or something was in our way, management would blame us for any reason they can.
  We had 5 techs for about 5 months then by the 10th month we only had 2. One was terminated for no reason, the other 2 just left without notice. The atmosphere was toxic, all the techs would say is "I need to get another job".
  Every meeting they called was to tell how unclean things are, even though we spent 45 minutes on Fridays cleaning up trucks and equipment.
  I honestly think that management shouldnt hire anyone, that way they can only blame themselves for the faults they created.
  This job will affect your personal life.

• I worked for this company. They are totally irresponsable for environmental control. We were using really harsh chemicals which included DCM, methylene chloride, acids, and so many more. We would use gallons of these chemicals mixed into thick pastes, and then power-wash it all off into the storm drains. In Vancouver the city paints pictures of fish on storm drains where it leads out to fish habitats. We were told to just wash the chemicals down the storm drain, that the chemicals would be diluted from all the water and this would be fine. Its not! They have been written up and reprimanded for several municipalities. I guess fines are just a cost of doing business. When I brought up my concerns I was chewed out and yelled at. I do not tolerate people and companies that disregard not only government environmental regulations but total moral sense.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• Practises at this company are inconsistent. Head office and training would tell you to do one thing, and the Calgary office does not adhere to Vancouvers training or procedures. Management is not environmentally friendly even though they state they are. Chemicals are not collected, just washed down the drain. • The Corporate business model is quite good. However the Calgary franchise, (...) seriously lacks vision. The employers seem reluctant or incapable of adhearing to corporate policy and procedures. This makes it difficult for employees to be efficient at their jobs. Re: Graffit removal technicians. The Calgary franchise is in dire need of long term stratigic planning. Unless you include the concept of squeezing as much profit as possible out of it, while doing the minimum to enable employees to function. The quality of management is archaic, and would be more appropriate for the 1930's. Sarcasm, insinuation, innuendo, veiled threats, and intimidation are the norm. The Corporate culture as in the Head Office is generic, ok and environmentally responsible, and is reluctantly half-heartedly followed in Calgary. (...)
  Internal circulation is ok but information needed to do the physical work is rarely complete if not half-baked, incorrect or nonexistant. Rarely is there positive feedback no matter how hard you try. Your decision making is constantly questioned. As a graffiti removal technician you quickly fiqure out that you are a very big part of the company success, but you are made to feel expendable, disposable, unreliable, and untrustworthy. I always take pride in my work, always do the best that I can, and did take pride in the type of work I was doing, but I would be ashamed and embarassed to have anyone that I knew witness the type of treatment that I put up with. The office space is ok, but the shop area for the techs is cramped and has been outgrown. The work atmosphere is a toxic soup of chaos & disorganization. It seems like you are being set-up for failure with unreasonable expectations every day, and critisized for taking too long when the employers themselves are largely responcible for making it so difficult. There are always people applying for jobs at this place. The employers have hired 4 or 5 people at a time, and in the orientation meeting tell them that that 3 or 4 of them will be gone in six months, and that most people won`t last more than a year. They seem to get the most satisfaction from terminating people when they perceive them to be the most vunerable, and firing them for petty, inane, nit-picky reasons, which is a real joke because techs have to be trained, for a fair amount of money. This could be one of the best jobs in the world. It`s easy, pays quite well, but the employers ruin it. There is talk of teamwork, but the employers have such poor communication skills, want to micromanage everything, and with no ability to truely trust anyone, that teamwork is just a catch phrase, and cooperation, forget it. The work could be extemely well organized if procedures were followed, but every day is like putting together a picture puzzle with miscellaneous pieces thrown into the wind. The level of stress is up and down, but the longer one works there the higher it goes. Supplies run out, equipment that wears out is finally, reluctantly replaced, basic maintenance on equipment and vehicles is not done. Over time you are left feeling frustrated, and any semblance of work ethic that one may have will be eroded away like a wood pecker pecking at a tree. I was given the opportunity for a management position numerous times but turned it down because I could see that the employers were impossible to work with and that anyone in that position would just be a scapecoat for the employers` own failings. I would never recommend a friend work for the current employers, hopefully they will retire one day, because head office deserves better.   read complete rating Hide complete rating
