  • I worked in the Ministry of Human Services. My site - the McCullough Centre just East of Edmonton in Gunn. The positive things there: coworkers are the very best. Really good people who know a lot. I started there as Practicum Student and my practicum supervisor counsellor helped me a lot. He was very very supportive and the residents there thought a lot of him. He looked out for the employees and the residents. But he was mostly working by himself at his work . The counselling program had nobody left he had no support . I learned a lot there and most of the people living there are nice men. The bad staff: black mould in the main building. Bad plumbing that goes unfixed for up to a week. So the toilet blocks and backs up in the main building, under the kitchen. And in that building smells like sewer for days and we still have to work there and go there daily for community meeting. And also the place is getting more dangerous for staff with a lot of relapses and violence and men swearing at staff. And a lotta needles stashed around the place. Sometimes only two people there on shift and that’s for 60 men. I was always scared of what would happen next. The Managers pretend stuff is good and that there’s no problems. They kinda stick together and don’t seem to support or protect the people working there. And that scared me more and made me disappointed
