  • I have never worked at a place like Gregg Distributors (Main) in my life. I am still employed with the company as of now, but I'm praying that this will change within the next couple of months, before I implode. I'm gonna do this in point form, because there is just so much that is messed up with this organization, and I don't wanna ramble on and on:
-If you need to make a phone call (excluding on breaks) then you must record the exact amount of minutes (even if it is less than one) that you are talking, in one of about 50 forms the company has.
-There are at least two gentlemen who's main duties include walking around the facility looking for those who aren't at task.
-If management doesn't like you it shows in your paycheque...I've been there for under a year and make more than some people who've been there for many years!
-family comes first there, rather than experience and quality...marry into the family and you're a shoe-in for a big promotion.
-there are numerous forms of spies in the company, including some who will actually show up at pubs or bars where "lower-class" employees hang out; as well as Facebook spies who monitor and then report back to the big man. There's even people who watch how much time you spend in the bathroom!!
-management gets involved in their employees' private lives, but only in a negative fashion, sticking their noses where they don't belong.
-intimidation is a beloved form of getting employees to follow the rules...fear tactics and threats galore!
-when you start, all kinds of things are thrown at you to sweeten the deal, and then reality kicks in. Money and free trips aren't everything.
-management's personal agenda takes center stage during "school sessions," even going as far as showing video clips of family members and their accomplishments!
-EVERYTHING goes through the big man...even if you need a pen or a bandaid.
-EVERYTHING is monitored, which determines our bonuses, but these numbers just don't add up, which leads me to believe that they fix the bonus', as well as who wins trips and prizes.
    -(...)
-Water was finally permitted in the warehouse, though those who sit in the air-conditioned "order desk" area are able to drink coffee or tea, and eat at their desks as well...No hats, phones, music, pop, food...you're not even allowed to use black pens (MUST BE BLUE).
-Sure, you can sign up for free hockey games and concerts, but when you get into trouble, its used against you. Everything is used against you, as though you're second-rate citizens.
I could literally double this list, but why bother? If you're still willing to work at a place like Gregg's after reading this, maybe you should get your head checked first! Don't get sucked in!!

It's over 700 employees, taking into account Dash, Global, Gregg Properties, etc. And yes, the pens must be blue. Anyone who has a problem with using the cheapest pens in the world can buy their own, which I' sure suits the company just fine. I never got a real reason for that though, even though I asked the man himself. Something about scanning. Something unintelligible. But I'm pretty sure scanner can read blue as well as black.

A place with no rules is a place I dont want to be,do you know why we are the premium industrial supplier around? head down ass up attitude!and yes we have rules when you have a business that big with that many employees you have to.do they apply to you? yes they apply to everyone!! some people cant handle rules, but I tell ya what any employer would love to have a long term gregg employee working for them !! I can tell by your comments your female and probably a little sensitive and by the way why should you take personal phone calls during gregg time (get your life together) more employers should be like greggs, as a consumer I am sick of bad service !!

Comment #3...get real you moron...clearly by looking at the dozens of others comments on here, 400 other employees would NOT disagree with what I've said. "Need a pen, go to Staples"...good one...If you knew how to read properly, you'd see I don't need a pen, I need a BLUE pen!

Now you can go back to doing what you do under the boss' desk!

It's more like 200 employees, 300 if you include Global Hydraulics, Dash, GD Liquidators, etc. Obviously from the number of negative comments here, and the number of lawsuits (which are public records) there is evidently a great deal of dissatisfaction.

Most of 400 Some odd employees are so intimidated that they dare not speak up if they plan on keeping their job, even away from work. I've seen it 1st hand.

I am still willing to work at Gregg Dist. and I had a catscan. Well all the things you describe would probably make a great movie, but 400 some odd employees would strongly disagree with your comments. Hey, if you need a pen, go to staples...
