Home Depot is a great company if you are looking to advance as there is room to advance extremely quickly, if you have the knowledge, skills and attributes. The compensation for salaried managers is poor, but can be reasonable if store and district goals are met, leading to a decent bonus. The workload is extremely heavy and there is little room for work/life balance when you are a salaried manager. You are always working. It does not end. You can be contacted at anytime even though they preach that there should be work/life balance. The expectations of the executives, such as the VP's and CEO are far too high as they have never worked at the store level and are so far out of tune with what is actually occurring at the store level. This leads to unrealistic and unfair expectations. If you are a metrics-driven individual, Home Depot would be a good fit. All they care about is driving the metrics no matter how you get there, as long as it isn't blatantly unethical or if the way you achieve the metric is not discovered.
