There are two things I couldn't stand about working at LaVie, one being mistreated and devalued by my manager and Dm, two being told conflicting things about policy (being told to abide by the store policy in the manual regarding returns and exchanges, but being instructed to break policy if an obnoxious customer decided that 'final sale' didn't apply to them). The management issue was the biggest problem of course; during 7 months working for LaVie I had two managers, and a period of having no in store management at all....that period happened right as the x-mas rush began. I was p/t staff that took on tons of extra hours and extra responsibilities while the store was without management. My efforts during those chaotic times were rewarded with a jr. assistant manager title, which sounds great but there were problems. Even with the small raise I found out I was being paid less than some part timers, I was expected to handle management responsibility without receiving any management incentives, the hours I worked were sporadic and conflicted with my university schedule ( a schedule the manager was well aware of). On top of that efforts to discuss and resolve the issues were ignored by management. Ignored till I called head office in hopes of finding a reasonable resolution. Upon learning I had contacted head office the Dm reacted like an immature back stabbing high school girl. She denied I ever tried to contact her to resolve any problem and instructed my manager to deny me employee discounts. I quit and moved on to better things.
