• I worked at Manwin now MindGeek for close to two years and left on my own volition. Like most who work here I moved on to a stable and longer term position.
  This company falls flat for a few simple reasons (but it has potential to be a very good place); some managers are simply not management worthy and found themselves in a fortunate situation. Good news is that slowly I see the upper management now some owners realize this. Eventually friendship, being a "funny bro" and sucking up will only get you so far.
  
  There is a formal lack of experience or training with some departments but the industry (online adult site) and its lucrative nature allows them to slide by.
  
  H R was severely under trained and experienced for a company this size as was the legal dept. Completely not on level with an organization this size not with leadership, abilities or experience.
  Having worked at companies this size or smaller these two departments were completely in over their heads with people that are the wrong fit leading the department. Other heads do a very efficient job and lead well. Now that some top managers are running the company I think change is inevitable in some positions.
  
  I would not label this a terrible place to work but understand it is a stepping stone to somewhere else for the long term. There are some talented people and some benefits are on par or better with other companies.
  The company simply needs a few changes and perhaps change in policy to move ahead which I believe the new owners understand.

• This company, now known as Mind Geek, is a complete load of crap. So Manwin gets sold to the higher ups in the Montreal location, and they decide they are going to lay off 100+ people. Basically the ones who had more seniority and who made more got cut. This all happened on a random day, WITHOUT any notice.. boom just like that. And the people were herded out of the building by security like sheep. And unless you say BRO every other word, or suck up to the bosses, then chances are you will cut. This was done so that Mind Geek (that name.. REALLY?!!) would save money and the higher ups would have a bigger number in their bank accounts and larger bonuses.. cause we all know that those greedy ass wops didn't make enough already right?
  
  So bottom line, avoid working here. Unless you don't mind wondering if you're going to be laid off for no justifiable reason at all, are the type of person who likes to suck up to get far in a company, or enjoys having your back tapped for clashing with the BROS.. then this company IS right for you.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• I can't tell you much about other departments, but the one that I've worked for was awesome. Challenging job, always dealing with new technologies, good department and team management, and outstanding people. Agree with other comments about the upper management though. • Stay here for 2 years max and then GTFO.
  Survival tips for those 2 years:
  1. End every other sentence with the word "Bro." Makes you more likely to get a promotion.
  2. Get in early for breakfast to make sure you get the good stuff.
  3. Make sure that any increase in responsibility comes with an increase in salary.

• I can't speak for other departments since I don't know how they are run, but I know with mine I am under the supervision of a complete retard. Two words: power trip. And I can totally agree with some of the comments about sucking up and getting favored/recognized more. Complete bullshit. • Starting off at this company, I thought there was room to improve and 'move up' as they keep drilling in every new employee's head. After 2 years of work, I've had plenty of issues with false promises, horrible management and no recognition for anything I have helped build within the company. Maybe it's just the department, but nothing good came out of this company and I feel as if 2 years of my life have been wasted. • This company has a lot of potential, unfortunately it is ruled mostly by power trip low-skilled psychopaths that will spend most of their day scheming how to blame others for their failures, instead of doing some actual work. Do not even bother raising any obvious issue or trying to improve anything, the psychopath will use all tricks against you. • You can get a pay check at Manwin, but with the management in place there forget about a career. Manwin grew very quickly and so employees that were doing low skill, repetitive tasks became management earning it through seniority and nepotism, not a work or education background. Manwin's current requirements to hire for management or lead positions are much higher than qualifications the current managers that are in place have. Many managers have ZERO people and business management skills and know this so they spend their work time doing jobs they should delegate instead of managing people and the business because they do not know how to do anything else. Because of this there is a self-defensive environment where management is constantly finding ways to blame employees for the overall performance of the business when they themselves have not fostered a supportive, productive work environment.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• Many if not all of the pros that came from working there are because of the work that corp. admin. and HR put in like company events, perks, and policies.
  
  Many of the cons that came from working there are a result of the managers: nepotism, lack of managerial experience, lack of professionalism, lack of communication, manager relationships that show obvious conflict of interest between managers and their superiors, and not respecting HR/admin's policies.

• It is not at all a supportive place to work. The feedback is inconsistent, the tasks are barely defined, and the leads are barely ever around. When they are around, their purpose seems to be to micromanage the work estimates, not guide the teams.
  
  Evaluations are a joke and you can be told the exact opposite by your lead's boss within two weeks of them.

• There are a lot of things I want to say about the company but people have already covered in detail in the other comments about what the problems are with Manwin, so I'll just say this....
  
  If you really, really need the money, go for it. But don't stay long. The majority of the people who work there are good, but upper management has no respect for its employees (they'll deny it, but it's true).

• I see too many negative comments, and I'll tell you why. The company grew too fast for it's own good. They had to hire anyone and everyone to keep up with demand. When that happens you have a high chance of getting many low quality, inexperienced employees. The company recently went through a cleanup phase, which resulted in the loss of much dead weight. Hence the influx of negative comments. Fact is, the company rewards innovators and leaders. If you're looking to coast, thinking you'll get promoted just doing your 9 to 5, this probably isn't the place for you. • There are no bathrooms! If Manwin would have enough bathrooms for their employees I wouldn't be writing this now.
  
  Manwin sh*ts on people and they do not give enough bathrooms to the employes for them to sh*t!
  
  IT project management sucks; they fire people from here and there every day because of the total lack of management skills.

• This company is good if you are a power moocher or are ready to suck up to advance. The lack of communication and skills of management is astounding. The department I worked in was not being LED in any way. It was like a blind man in the dark. They do not care AT ALL about employee feedback. They will tell you they do and changes will be made, but then nothing. They do not encourage leadership and innovation and watch out if you dare speak your mind or confront them about their lack of professionalism, for you will probably lose your job down the road. Promotions are handed out to the boss's pals while the rest can distinguish themselves all they want through hard work and determination, they will never raise in the food chain. HR is also clueless and disorganized. I would never recommend this place to potential job seekers. • If you have any experience, avoid.
  
  This place is impaired with illusions of grandeur. They see themselves as being a leading BIG company in web and technology, but there is nothing farther from the truth.
  
  Average skills are low, from managers to team leaders to seniors. Communication and planning is non existent. Every little team is like a silo, and finger pointing is becoming more important than fixing the root causes of the issues. That fits well with what feels like a "bro" kind of environment, where your bros will help you getting a promotion regardless of what you bring to the table.
  
  Communication channels are bottom down only. Don't expect to have your say in anything that affects you if it is beyond your pay-grade. Do as you are told and turn your brain off.
  
  Regarding reviews, it amazes me that everyone gets rated average and get criticised for things that went wrong on projects that are managed and planed and organized in ways that wouldn't be accepted in a Project Management 101 course. (FYI, I haven't been rated yet, so this is not some kind of angry rant.)
  
  I was excited to work there because they present themselves as a challenging and fast paced place. But it's been nothing but disappointment since the beginning.

• If you can play the game, you are good to go. Overall I found it to be a great company, the perks were abundant and the parties were wicked. You're likely to make friends for life. However, management can be terrible in certain departments. The manager I had to deal with is now gone, but I doubt that whoever replaced him is any better. You truly need to be a sociopath in order to manage any of the departments at Manwin, and there is likely only room to move up if you are very good at playing "the game". If you understand office politics and can twist it to your advantage, you can make a career out of it there. • From the HR to the upper management there is problem! No transparency which they talk about it alot but they don't believe in it at all! No communication and proper job description! It's only well paid but nothing more! Very young management with no management experience or knowledge! A good management won't have almost 3 people getting fired per week! Those that they hired them-self just a yeAr or 2 years ago! • I love Manwin. Ok they have their negative aspects also but I still love manwin and everybody I work with.. I believe in signs and things happening for a reason. It bothered me to see all the negative or exaggerated comments putting manwin down when they do as much positive for people than anything. When I came to manwin, I was going through a really hard time emotionally. Ill never forget walking up to the building for the first time. There were flowers and butterflies, the atmosphere was so welcoming and beautiful I could tell that this was a special company and I was lucky to get the oppertunity. I've been spending most of my time there for about 5 months and I never regretted investing my time and energy on manwin. They have their flaws like everywhere else and they can be a pain in my ass..its a give and take.they give a lot and expect a lot..overall manwin is great, I love them and are proud to be part of the manwin team.
