Fear of lay-offs a constant threat. Outsourcing to lower waged countries is killing the quality and deadlines of project work. One must remember, you buy a Cadillac you get a Cadillac, you buy a Kia, you get a Kia = you get what you pay for. Every time you turn around, they are cutting one benefit or another, but not for upper management. They still get their undeserved bonuses. It's all about matrix's now, and reports, not about getting the job done. Employee work overload is killing the minions. There are still some good employees left, but many are in the looking mode.
