• Totally agree with the previous posting. This is a sad company to work for. Despite a great pipeline and great vision coming from the global offices, the vision DOES NOT does not seem to trickle down to the Canadian affiliate. Lack of leadership at the VP level and above. The Canadian operation seems to be allowed to run amuck, totally unchecked and not held accountable for the way it treats its employees. There has been so much turnover of employees and people just quitting or being unjustly terminated, yet this does not seem to be recognized as a problem by both global and the region. Those that remain, are those that can't afford to leave or cannot find jobs elsewhere because the industry is going through difficult times. They are being held hostage. When the industry does turn around, this company will have problems both attracting and retaining talent.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• This company is just sad. No great talent in its head office staff. There is a lot of PR and talking about values and behaviour, but it is just that talk and absolutely nothing to back it up. The atmosphere is terrible, you work long hours only to prop up an “old boys club” that is groomed for promotion. These so called “high potentials” frequently have very little experience but yet are placed in high positions of responsibility. These same individuals are not about getting results, but instead about getting ahead and creating careers for themselves, frequently by stepping on the back of others. Absolutely no accountability for results. Time for another reorg. This time, maybe they should truly reorg and create something with strong talent for a strong future. • worst company. Autocratic culture where the swiss dictate what needs to be done. Everything is expected to be treated as most urgent, no tolerance for later deliveries. HR is almost non-existence, you get a North American number to call for questions. Senior Management has not ability to motivate or lead employees -they create an aggressive and punitive culture. • Not a female friendly organization, very male dominated, very white, bullying is a problem in some departments from what I saw when I was there. If you are male perfect organization for you you will go far especially if you think like an alpha male or like a "hunter" and speak like one in a very simple way. I did find they were generally ok marketers and found that they had some of the most talented & attractive women in the pharmaceutical industry which surprised me as the women never had any development plans or career plans for their future in the department I was in while I was there it was strange but they worked so hard much harder than the men who seemed to always be lost as they kept being promoted to jobs and not knowing what to do or having competencies in the area in which they were promoted. Fortunately these men always had these amazing women under them that were much more competent so everything would get done and their careers would flourish while the ladies never seemed to go far beyond manager jobs no access to director jobs. very frustrated pockets of women-not surprising this company had a major lawsuit in the united states that did not surprise me after I left.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• This is a company that truly LEADS. In the healthcare domain, it is the best atmosphere, the best culture and the highest values. People here are happy and motivated. I left Pfizer to join Novartis a year ago and I could not be happier. This company is A WORLD apart. I love coming in to work each day. • Great place to work. Of the pharma companies I have worked at in my career this one is by far the best. Unlike other places, if your work is sub-par, it will get noticed and there will be consequences. If you know what you are doing, and if you actually deliver, you will be recognized. Unlike Pfizer, Merck, Schering, BMS, this is a place where you cannot hide - which is GREAT for those at the top of our game. Others should apply elsewhere. Many pharma companies hide (and even promote!) their weakest players (Pfizer's model certainly does that!). Not the case at Novartis, I can proudly say!   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• Another end of year and another reorganization. Short sighted, unreasonable, putting inability to get coverage and to forecast properly onto the backs of the sales force again. Very little autonomy, very high personal time demands, no work/life balance. You are either a compliant little soldier (referred to as a "Novartian") or you are deemed to be low potential. They talk about autonomy and independance to "run your territory like your own business". NOT the case. Integrate or you are out. I was warned by the recruiter going in that this place can ruin your career, self-confidence and passion for this industry. I should have listened. Would love to get out of the "Evil Empire", but recruiters tell me that Novartis people are not highly regarded by other employers as most employers don't want to have to tell their employees what to do with every minute of their day. • Environnement de travail privilégié comparé à d'autres industries. Bien que la charge de travail soit énorme, elle ne l'est pas plus que dans d'autres sociétés pharmaceutiques (échantillon de 3). • Novartis talks about caring and "Work- Life Balance" but is the total opposite! Expect to work long hard days that extend into evening and weekends. Much homework is expected and job security is poor.
  I worked through 4 cuts backs in 4 years.....each time they would call it something else and not admit to down sizing.
