I worked for this company for a number of years. The company is full of kind, wonderful employees. The president of the company is very nice, and always willing to smile and say hello. The management, however, is a bit lacking. Their management style is built on intimidation and lies, not on encouragement, skill development, or truth. When I was hired, I left a better paying company on the promise that I would receive more money, my choice of hours, and a specific job. After I had quit my former company and started with Primary, only then was I told that I'd be paid minimum wage, "these hours or none at all", and the job that I was promised didn't exist. But, I stuck around to see where it would take me, nonetheless. Employees have been fired because they did exactly what they were told to do. Employees have submitted proper paperwork, management lost it, then the employee gets blamed. Employees with valid medical conditions have been fought against by their HR department to save the company money. Employees have been punished for trying to use their rights under the employment standards act. Employees have had to work a 13+ hour shift, even though they had a severe medical condition to deal with. The job security is minimal as well. For little to no reason at all, an employee can be moved from one site to another, or removed entirely from the schedule, and would have to call in each day hoping that something would be available. An employee was removed from their regular posting because the client misunderstood a situation they weren't even there for. The employee was being asked to do something illegal. Rather than try and explain the situation to the client, Primary Response removed the employee from the site, without hesitation. The managers in head office are not afraid to raise their temper or use vulgar language to express a point to an employee. They're also not afraid to reprimand an employee for not being able to work on the employee's scheduled day off. They forced an employee to either drive a patrol car with a spare tire on it for a 12 hour shift, responding to alarms, or go home without pay. Primary Response says they're a family and they treat their employees as such. They are not a family, they are a business. They save all their respect and kindness for their clients, and leave little for the employees. If you're looking for a quick job that provides minimum wage, and you don't care about sticking around for very long, and can deal with abuse from management, then go ahead and sign up. If, however, you're looking for a company that will treat you with respect, listen to your side of the story, and a company that you can work with, instead of for, I'd suggest looking somewhere else.
