York Region is well funded and intentioned, but is wildly different in each Department. Limited respect for taxpayer funds results in open spending on glorified infrastructure that is unnecessary at the expense of future generations. They are the top municipality when it comes to compensation and is why so many stick around, but becareful if you notice something funny or improper. CYA first or things are unlikely to go as you expect. Would not recommend as an employer unless you are prepared to wipe away any enthusiasm in your work, are willing to turn a blind eye when some decisions are made and are simply looking for great stable pay (Union FTW).
