• Re contract to perm graduated scale. This is industry wide not just at TMMC all automotive plants do this now does not make it great but a reality of the times.
  20 years in, sure it has it's issues but I would bet all employment places have the same, they all employee humans, and humans are a sensitive and opinionated creature.

• Harassment from fellow full time employees is ongoing and never ending. Constant reminders of how contracts make half the money and get no time off for doing the exact same thing and in a lot of cases for whatever reason more than the full time people getting paid double the money. The place is a giant high school. Lots of drama. Sexual harassment everywhere. It’s disgusting. • I have worked for Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada in Assembly for a total of 7 years. They only consider you a real employee after your contract period. So technically I have only been an employee for 4 of them because I was on contract for 3 years. Unorganized management, misinformed HR, they do not practice as they preach. Benefits, pay, and vacation are excellent once you reach permanent employment status. They often look for their best interest. Not a family oriented company as you work 10 1/2 shifts the majority of the time and you become to sore and exhausted from the repetitive work. They are not flexible with shifts or hours and they do not tolerate poor attendance.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• Management is lazy and incompetent and completely lacking of ethics. People who were in my hiring group were promised wage increase when hired to full time but are now on a 10-year plan so the compensation isn't even what was promised when I started. I now have several permanent disabilities due to being outright denied medical attention to make sure I kept pumping out cars while being injured. Toyota is beyond apathetic; its concern for the heath, safety and well-being of its employees is negligent and remiss at best. Medical staff is dismissive, completely unaccountable and conspiring with the company to prioritize production over Wellness. Since being injured the level of harassment and mistreatment from management has increased. Unfortunately the ethical standards which the company claims to uphold are desecrated by nepotism, favoritism, personal targeting, harassment and intimidation. The public opinion that Toyota has a high ethical standard is controlled by lies and propaganda. It is simply not worth the sacrifice to give your great work ethics to a company who would throw you under a bus to make a few more cars and a few more dollars.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• From initial time of applying to start date was approx. 8 months. (Felt like I was being strung along) looking back I wonder? Does HR do this intentionally to make you feel like "you are one of the lucky ones getting hired". Worked here for approx. 8 months and could not take it anymore. Best thing I did was leave. Work/family life balance was non-existent. I was pressured and effectively forced to work mandatory overtime on Saturdays by my TL. My skills/past training/experience were "obviously" not considered when they decided where to place me in the plant leading me to believe HR is ??? Out of all my years in the workforce I never felt like I did here-I felt like a "robot" when I came to work. My wife and I decided it was just not worth it-for the sake of our relationship. Luckily for me, my wife is a professional in the health field so I was able to leave and never look back. • TMMC has brain-washed many citizens (that do not work at TMMC) and many who do; to believe that the way they treat contract workers is permissible. Contract workers are suppressed, segregated and treated unfairly- let's face it, worse than most animals. Anyone with an atom of common sense can see that this is wrong. • I see all the union pinions are on here trashing their pay cheque. No surprise but a word to the wise. Take a drive to St. Thomas and see what the CAW left behind down there. I worked at Sterling before the CAW drove that company out as well. I see all the same CAW tricks have made its way into Unifor. I love my job at the Woodstock plant and the Union never invested a dime. Don't like it a Toyota? Its a free country. Do us all a favour and move on you clowns. • Terrible company to work for. You'll be on contract for 3-4 years easily. Being a "contract" will always be used against you. There will be absolutely no job security while you're on contract.
  
  If you have to go to the washroom, you better put your name on the list and hope you don't pee your pants before you are allowed to go.
  
  The inner workings of this company are so disturbing I cannot imagine how or why it's allowed to function in this manner.
  
  If you love your family, value your health and longevity, do yourself a favor and do anything but apply at TMMC.
  
  Too bad this site doesn't allow one star for everything.

• Totoya makes abject apathy look like a frickin art form. Negligent, lacking ethics and ripe with lazy incompetent management. Employee health and safety standards are remiss at best; including a medical staff which is dismissive, completely unaccountable and conspiring with the company to prioritize production over Wellness. • I just got fired because I wore a pair of cotton gloves under a pair of kevlar gloves, instead of wearing 2 pairs of kevlar gloves. I also just got married and had my first child, hes now 7 weeks old. Im the only source of income for my family but regardless after pleading for my job they still fired me with no remorse. • Not a bad place to work as a tradesman, easy 6 figures a year if you want to put in an average amount of hours.

• You make 13-14 dollars less an hour when you start then the people not on contract. It takes you 10 years to get to top rate doubling what it used to take. The management target people they don't like and try to get their contracts not renewed. When they had a big parts shortage they pushed cars through and left them to add the missing parts later which completely goes against the quality that they preach. They don't appreciate you, work you hard and treat you unfairly. This is probably the worst company I've ever worked for. I hear it used to be good from people who had been there longer but it sucks for new people which is probably why the turn over rate Is higher then it's ever been.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• I started in 1997 when leadership was strong and trusted and a positive morale could be sensed abundantly-not anymore! Say goodbye to your loved ones, 10.5hrs in the plant and add your commute. I wouldn't even recommend TMMC to my ex-wife's boyfriend.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• This job involves shift work, but my co-workers are good people to work with. If you have a supportive spouse, this job will allow you a good lifestyle. This comfortable lifestyle is why very few people leave the company. Many of the raters on this site are haters, and I feel bad that they stay at a job they do not enjoy going to each day.
