• I have worked for other insurance companies before and while I enjoy my position here at WFG I found the lack of training and the sink or swim attitude a bit dis concerning. You will do well here if you are a self starter and self educator but if you need hand holding you will be frustrated. • Totally disorganized, extremely political. If you don't live in High River you don't have an ounce of job security if you are at Head Office. I saw many qualified and talented people go so management could keep jobs for underperforming local residents. • The absolute worst company I have ever worked for. The managers are the most incompetent people I ever seen. The head office basically tells you to do as your told or go to another company. They over work you and if you don't make their targets you are put on time management. I left them last year and it is the best move I ever made. • The most ridiculous company I have ever had the misfortune of working for. High turnover and overwhelming work load makes it impossible to even do your job. As a broker you have so much responsibility for your clients property, with the way you are treated no way you could be held responsible for not having your client properly insured. The management is a joke. The assistant managers in training program flopped just like the flood gates in High River. The new managers have no people management skills. Treating the staff like they are your personal slave and talking to them like they are below you will only last for so long. I know of one office now where half the staff is looking for a new job. The I'm so above you attitude of the new manager is appalling. I can only hope the head office staff sees what is going on before half that office is empty. • I've been here for over four years now, and although this has never a great company to work for, it wasn't all that bad either, until this year. Now, this is quite possibly one of the worst places I've ever had the misfortune of being at, and I can't wait to leave.
  
  The new management is pretty clueless, has no idea whatsoever about the business, and is driving us into the ground. The stress that we are all under is incredible, as no one has any idea what our jobs are.
  
  Anyone on management who we ever liked, or had a clue has been let go, and that also has us us all stressed out. The people who get ahead here are the ones who will throw others under the bus at any turn, who play politics, and who have blind self-ambition rather than the ones who do their jobs, get things done, and produce results.
  
  For a company that totes Fairness, Value, Loyalty, and Truthfulness as it's "Guiding Principles", I've never seen a company that in reality cares so little about those things, and so regularly stomps all over them.
  
  In short, steer clear of this place, it is an awful place to be, and really not worth it, especially for the mediocre salaries that they pay.   read complete rating Hide complete rating

• I've never worked at such a dis-functional company in my career life. You get treated with more respect working at a fast food restaurant. The managers are crazy, all in for their own greed. They treat their employees with disrespect and do not offer any training or support. They use their employees as scapegoats to blame for their own disfunction. Warning - Stay far away! • Former Head office (High River) employee. Stated values definitely do NOT match the reality. Head office management is surprisingly unknowledgeable about developing an insurance culture. For me, a toxic, fearful, dysfunctional work environment. An amazing wealth of capable, talented employees and zero recognition or respect for their ability. Poor managers thwart individual growth and are far more interested in control and suppression of initiative and maintaining their own status. • Working for Western was a truly frustrating experience. I have never worked for a company where so many of the employees were so dedicated to doing a fantastic job but were never recognized by management in any way. A comprehensive lack of accountability by management lead to nothing but finger pointing and workplace drama. Finally, job descriptions are very inaccurate and not indicative of the workload that your posiiton has; because of this most employees are very underpaid and overworked. • Company is profitable and the president, VPs, and board of directors all give themselves big bonuses and salary increases but have, for the third year, frozen salaries of the people who make the money for them.
  
  Tend to be unfair in job classifications, i.e. level of responsibilities is not reflected in the job title and, therefore, not in the salary either. Job tracking systems are not implemented so it's impossible for managers to know who is pulling their weight, and who isn't. It's quite possible for 2 or 3 people to do much of a particular task, but the guy who sits at his desk all day reading the paper and watching YouTube videos gets credited for the work.
  
  As such, staff turnover is fairly high. If couple of other key people leave this particular department, there will be no one left behind qualified to train replacements.

• This employer is extremely arrogant. There is never any positive feedback. Head office consists of a group of individuals that have absolutely no respect for their largest asset being the management team and employees in their various offices in various locations throughout 4 Provinces in the West. They micro manage which at the end will be the downfall of this organization. Also they are unable to attract "successful and knowledgable" individuals, which other large insurance brokers in Canada are able to do. • This is a Company that is so involved in acquisitions, that they have lost touch with the greatest asset they have, that being their managers and employees.
