Recruitment has tanked since instructors were required to buy and equip a new or newer car in order to have this job, leaving the remainder overworked, even as enrolment in lessons drops due to the high prices charged. Now the company's owner is attempting to reduce benefits for that much work and force instructors to have cameras recording during lessons. Aside from being invasive to instructors, it will likely cause our already expensive lessons to be even less attractive as parents refuse to have their kids recorded by a corporation. Work/life balance is also non-existent as they demand availability for ten hours a day, five days a week, and are starting to refuse vacation time (or even an evening off for a special event) in Summer or December, no matter what. If you are so desperate as to become a driving instructor for a job, find any other company than Young Drivers of Canada right now. The current owner is becoming extremely difficult to work for.
