I am a transportation employee who worked for over 27 years without major incident. Cared about my work ehtic and co worker as well as company safety. Out of the blue after 27 years of service I was deemed as a disgruntle employee by some of my supervisor and got disciplined to a point where I was fired. It took 14 months to catch me in the wrong doing, I was brought in for discipline for trivial reason only and was assessed demerits and fired unjust reasons. How does an employees with no discipline become a bad employee for no apparent reasons. Mangement were on the hunt to get me out of work and suceeded. I was treated with such humiliation, we don't treat our pets the way we are treated at work. Stay on the front (outside of the locomotive rain or shine, sleet or extreme heat) We have great pay scale compare to other employers but the risk and quality of life non existant.( gone away from home 36 hrs over a period of 48.) Work at Christmas even if all the cusotmers are shut down. Managements make sure all the assignments have week days off so that we aren't home to our family. etc. Promotion/advancement in my deparment is negotiated in our union contract so it doesn't apply.
When's the rest of the novel coming out?
I hope it's a short novel
So sad a sounds like a hard working guy gets the F bomb and couple of CN managers come here to mock him. Just shows you how bad CN treats it's unionized workers.
Too bad the same fired employee keeps trashing the company - most of us here are happy to have the jobs and the excellent pay.
27 years of a man's life should certainly count for something. If you felt that your dismissal was unjust then it should have been grieved through your union rep, reported to the human rights commission and/or defended by a lawyer. I understood that CN Rail is no longer government owned/operated but a private company now. If so then its own blundering and ineptitude will likely do it in. Good luck to you in the future.
