When I first started working at this company I thought it was great. The instructors were nice knowledgeable and very pleasant. They were retired employee brought back by the company to train running trade employees and they helped me and my brothers get through our rules test and out onto the job site.

When starting my on job training every employee was the exact opposite they were rude, unhappy and hated this company with a passion. It was obvious something was wrong! I quickly realized what it was after an incident with an engineer who had sprained his ankle while disembarking off his train. he was outside his home terminal and didn't tell anybody about the incident until his conductor started grilling him after watching him fall while trying to climb up the train he was called to go home on. The conductor asked him "why didn't you get yourself a taxi and go to the hospital?, the engineer replied saying he was scared that he was going to get fired.

CN is that type of company. They didn't want yard crews to warm up in the belt pack unit during winter; so they locked their employees out of the unit. They watch their employees 24/7 on cameras, harass them and download the work units activity to ensure that their employees work for 7 hours and forty minutes straight out of an eight hour shift.

They hound employees to "disregard the rules" when busy yet they punish them for any mistake, accident or injury an employee may have sustained while following their advice. Even the managers are treated poorly, you can hear them being yelled at over conference calls and over half of the managers I've met over the last 5 years have quit. One stating that upper management sent him into download a unit after an accident stating "it was safe for him to go in there" later he was told by emergency personal when leaving the unit that it was unsafe. They have also flown in their own personal to tell crew at derailments that they are safe to work in such an environment. To later claim the environment was unsafe after the work was done and some of the employee had become sick from chemicals.

This Company does not care about their employees.
