Lets add a little honesty to your comment,1) Great Pay -True2) overall fairly easy work - It really really depends what kinda shift you're on. "overall fairly easy work" is a lie. Some shifts that statement is true and other shifts "worked to the bone" would be more appropriate.3) Great people - Not true for management, they lie/use intimidation constantly! Management worker relationships are very poor. The term "snake oil salesman" comes to mind4) Great opportunity for advancement, either within unionized positions or within management - This is true, you dont need an education to move up. Its the same with any company really, meet the right people at the right time, make the right connections. As for unionized positions, it might be a pain in the ass but eventually CN sometimes will let you transfer to a different department if you hate your job that much.5) Great leader, with a great focus, great corporate outlook - Claude is alot better than Hunter is I have to say on this one.6) Great team, lots of knowledge, lots of help when needed - That is a broad statement Cn is very efficient in some places and bleeds money in others.7) Safety - I think for the most part people that bash CN's safety are misguided the points they are trying to make. Cn truly does care about safety, if you essentially tell a manager to fuckoff because somthing is unsafe and site the work safety rules to him, he will leave you alone. Most people seem to confuse safety with CN trying to pressure/bully you into breaking the collective agreement. This breaking of the collective agreement is done constantly but has nothing to do with safety.8) Those who continually mess up and put others in danger are held accountable - Managers will set you up to fail/harass you if they dont like you. Its kind of humorous because during a strike or what have you, cn's managers have to get on the ground and do the work. They break all the safety rules and generally have no idea Wtf they are doing.
This is clearly management or someone from HR, because they can’t keep people employed here. I people aren’t always quitting then cn is out right firing them. It’s hard to believe there is a union or should i say unions because though do nothing.
Only the terminated cry here!!
Accountability is the biggest problem at CN right now!!! From the top down. Anyone with any kind of scruples and work ethic eventually leaves because there is no accountability here. I truly feel sorry for the good folk that stick around because they are so close to retirement or becuase they have no other options.
Excellent review - it is defnitely true that only a very small minority of troublemakers stink up the place and try to create a bad environment. Most of us would be glad to see the last of them, to be honest.
If you have no family and no plans to start one, come work for CN. If you enjoy beeing harrassed and bullied, come work for CN. If you don't care about being fired (CN fires a lot of people), come work for CN. If you have at least half a brain and marketable skills, go work somewhere else.
Top of the line company in all areas - only the best need apply.
