In Toronto, at the Loblaws on Queen and Portland, I was fired from the Produce Department by the Dairy Manger who had no idea why he was firing me. When I asked for specific reasons, he started making things up (too many sick days, working slowly, etc.). In three months I missed only one shift and was otherwise an above-average worker. I was never spoken to by any manager regarding my performance. It was a dazzling display of incompetence.
Call the UFCW and make them work for your dues you pay. You may get your job back, but it really is not worth it, the place really sucks!
I'm just wondering. Have you only worked for them for 3 months? Because they have a probation periord where I don't think they really need a solid reason to let you go and there's nothing you can do about it. But, once you're in the union as sucky as that is they need real reasons to terminate.
Yes, I was nearing the end of my probation period. If they cannot provide me a solid reason, however, I'd at least appreciate some common decency.
Not that this means you can't use them as a reference, I think.
Queen and Portland is awful to its employees, they ttreat their cashiers awfully
