To each is own...As far as the pay, and scheduling, I was cool, paid for my own benefits, etc.. Cool

What upset me the most was the conduct amongst the higher ups, the Sergeants, and Lieutenants that let rank go to their HEADS!!!

Never in my life had I ever encountered people that had no regards for Respect. The sexual Harassment in that place was horrible. Female officers were treated the...

I started out with this company because I was desperate for work. I landed a position with one of Intercon's top clients. We were required to take all sorts of unnecessary courses (Grade 3 for a low profile site) And we weren't even given the equipment that we went to these courses to learn how to use. We started out getting paid for our training and then this stopped suddenly with no...

I have been here for over 7 years and I feel like im cursed because i cant seem to get a break on getting a new job. The site i work now was once good and now its like watching an episode of HOARDER, very sad and downgrading. I dont know how management can just make up rules as they go, even though there are no issues. I once have 40-42 hours per week, in about 1 1/2 i will be downgraded to...

I also had to take legal action against this company, they now go by the name Tyco Integrated Security. This company doesn't pay all wages, makes unauthorized deductions, pays minimal, and have a bunch of control as one person said it 'control freaks' working for them. I wouldn't recommend it at all.

I had to take these guys to the labour board for unpaid hours. They refused to pay proper overtime as required by labour law. It took them 3 months to pay me for my first day of work. I also had to take them to the labour board in order to be reimbursed my security license fee which was in my contract. They blamed me for all the things going wrong then I was not trained at all. Plus the security...

I've worked for Intercon for awhile now, I use to come on here and laugh at some of the reports that seemed just too wrong to believe, but now, that's changing. I've decided to post my experience as well, as the company is at risk of falling apart. (...). In fact, Intercon had lost it's contract with the Hospital's to Paragon, and was declined a bid on a contract with a Halton Region City. When...

One major economic justification for security personnel is that insurance companies (particularly fire insurance carriers) will give substantial rate discounts to sites which have a 24-hour presence. For a high risk or high value property, the discount can often exceed the money being spent on its security program. Discounts are offered because having security on site increases the odds that any...

I can see that Intercon has more then lost it's vision on how to treat an employee. The rubber stamp of what is expected of a new employee, experienced or not, when they arrive, to the "You are just a number" attitude with veteran employees is appalling. The company is loosing it's humanity and it's contracts along with it.

If you are having a problem getting job, Intercon is the place you...

AVOID AVOID AVOID

Pros: anyone with a pulse can be hired on the spot.

Cons: management will lie to your face and they do not follow workers safety laws and will blame the employee for any injuries or site issues rather than non-responsive and consistently unavailable management. A portion of their business model derives from under reporting hours worked to force an employee to follow up in...

All-in-all a good company to work for.

Cons: they over-burden all of their employees (guards, supervisors, management) with workload (which slows down processes and leads to more frequent mistakes), and the advancement opportunities come only to those patient enough to wait for openings.

Pros: they follow best-practice and ethical conduct guidelines; and from my conversations with the...

Not a good company at all. They have poor management and they have crappy wages. They have constant turn over and their managers are bad and unprofessional. They don't seek to advance anyone and they constantly select bad supervisors who bring down morale. It's not worth working there, especially in the healthcare division or sitter guard watch. You won't get treated with respect or anything else.

Over all I hear this is one of the better security companies but there are still many problems with it. Tyco took over and dropped the pay increase down from 2.5 to 1.5% (for a good review mind you), this can be as little as whopping $1.50 over 10 years! There are very few jobs on the top to eventually get recruited into. This line of work is not a career but a transition to something else....

A really bad company to work for. They have many complaints and many public records against them. Plus I'm adding this record to say that I did not enjoy working with this company. Seems like all security companies are the same. I've moved on to my career, so I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay in this industry.

When I joined, I was offered a low wage. I had experience in the industry.

They want you to use their grade system. That's fine but at least give the standard $12 to someone with experience.

Now I keep hearing everyone talk about ISL, and how its falling apart and how internal thefts and frauds are happening and clients are giving out the news etc.. I haven't worked for ISL since 2008, and...

They use to be a good company, but now it's gone bad. You have many guards with this 'i cant win against the con' attitude and are being pushed around like uneducated people. Managment often refers to most guards as "pileons" and "stake in the whole, your either square or circle" Most managment have a wall of shame where they broadcast employees pictures that have been site removed and the...

Intercon Security, the undisputed leader in security solutions. How long can a company hold onto the past successes when they have already given up on themselves. Once a leader in the security industry it has over time become the atypical security company. The company has no interest in retaining good employees as the basic wage scale has not increased in over a decade. A minimal wage...

It is a better company to work for, however i've had a rash of unruley event's from managment. Local site managment need to be trained more on bill 168, need to be more educated on professional conduct, stop sending back SOR's in a way to make an employee upset or fraustrated with no guidance from the local supervisors. I find that the local site managment engage themselves in gossip about other...

Maybe I'm wrong but during the time I worked for Intercon, I felt it

was a tattle-teller atmosphere. When I took one of their training

courses, a field supervisor turned instructor was bragging about how

he found a guard watching a dvd at work and had him suspended. Another

time I was sent to a site for temporary shift coverage, and the client

was not happy I did not have a blazer and tie,...

Do not care for employees. I went ofr a interview with (...) would not budge for for anything over 10$, Which is awful!, I left on spot and said sorry for the waste of time. I had 5 yrs exp.

This company does not give a flying f*** for guard moral at all. Get ready to feel like shit working for less the McDonald employees.

Only Chumps offer 10$ only to exp guards.

Good company but needs to do more for employee care, like taking care about pay matters. Employee side matters are not resolved quickly. Employee has to take initiative for getting the issue resolved , which should not be the case.Need to be more accomodative of employee needs and situations.

If you are asking your employee to be perfect to the T, then you must take care of his/her concerns...

In my opinion, the gold standard of security companies today. The security integration which led this company to be an effective crime deterrent has also assisted in the errosion of their quality services, and desire for competitors to take over, which has happened, however, the core standards which they pioneered have never been surpassed by any company. A revival is needed.

Objectively looking, Intercon, unlike so many other companies in this industry, is continuously striving to be an industry leader. This can be accounted on few different levels, starting from opportunities for upward movement, fair compensation, open communication with field personnel to encouragement of feedback re local management approach.

Overall, a great organization to a part of...

Although this company USED TO BE an industry leader, recently their focus from providing quality client service and being consistant with thier declaired corporate mission statment has been reduced to the short term profits at a sacrafice of long term reputation. Intercon is considered top heavy and disconnected by many of thier front line employees.
